An Illinois man sues DeVry University over superintendent position at the flexible online college degree factory.
Anntoine Hathaway who applied for a janitor’s position claims he is a victim of education discrimination. Hathaway claims that the university unfairly denied him employment because he holds a high school diploma from Robeson High School in Chicago, Illinois.
Robeson is an inner-city secondary school in Chicago ranked the 6th worst public school in the United States. Admission personnel at DeVry University consider Robeson as a failing educational institution who only produces graduates who are inept morons that can barely write with crayons.
According to court documents, Hathaway was notified in 2008 that he did not receive the job although his “ability to avoid the Illinois penal system was impressive.” The letter also states that Hathaway failed to meet the educational requirement of an accredited high school diploma required for the position.
When Hathaway protested to the Human Resources Department at DeVry that he had attained his high school diploma, he was told that the University does not consider Robeson High School’s curriculum of Paper Mache, Home Economics and Cosmetology courses as a legitimate secondary education. The human resources employee also instructed Anntoine Hathaway that to be considered for any position within DeVry University, he must at least obtain a GED from an accredited educational institution before applying in the future.
The superintendent/janitor position Hathaway applied for allegedly went to a sex-offender just released from Joliet prison, according to the lawsuit. Hathaway’s goal is to receive a position in the maintenance or Arts department at DeVry and compensation for lost wages.
